Last weekend we happened to catch up with alternative rock band The Almost at the Warfield in San Francisco, when they cruised into town on their tour with The Used. We hopped on the bus with 'em and talked about their new album (Monster Monster), their next music video (Hands), who cooks dinner on tour and what's up with a few other things in their lives. Check it out - always good times!
Looks so warm and oh so not something I want to be stuck inside. But funny none-the-less and quite a crafty little souvenir. Here is the OFFICIAL 'Weezer Snuggie' Infomercial.
Here's the line to the free MySpace 'Secret Show' featuring Weezer and Natalie Portman's Shaved Head last night in San Francisco. Oh wait I mean here's the line four hours before the doors were to open. I didn't even make it to the end of the line. Too many blocks.
And here's the trailer for their new video 'I Want You To':
Two days ago (10/14)East Bay alts AFI recorded a cover of David Bowie's classic glam rocker Ziggy Stardust. And that cover is available for you to hear and play with right now.
Who's down to have a little fun? Yeah me to. Watch this new video from Goons of Doom, the Aussie rock band who came to SoCal for a run of shows a towards the end of summer. The Goons, starring professional surf board rider Ozzie Wrong and his his friends Cowboy, Killerwhale and the infamous Vaughn Dead, threw this performance at the ASR convention. Very nice.
Be sure to check out their new album I Hate My Hair And Want To Die - a good time for sure.
Werewolves do things like go to Trader Vics for pina coladas, get Chinese food, and hang out in London. That's what Zevon told me.
The werewolves of High Fangs do things like play garage music and put on concerts. They go to surf contests and through parties. They also set up MySpace pages and post their fun songs. Check it out!
Davey Havok sporting his new look and the rest of the members of AFI can be seen in the band's new video for Medicate. It's shot entirely in black and white. Well, except for a gold tint flashing threw the instruments. Cool effect.
The band from Los Angeles known as Orange have just published a new music video for the track Standing Still. These Hellcat Records artists recently released a new album, and it is called Phoenix.
The East Bay's AFI tonight played a club show at The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood. Just a few of the comments from Nic Adler and his Roxy Staff: "Davey Havok just crowd surfed...standing up. Such a rockstar!"
Check out the photos on Twitter using the tag #AFIroxy. There's some sick ones from the lucky few who made it inside tonight.
A couple weeks ago we ran an Enter Shikari giveaway that featured their new disk Common Dreads. The question for the prize was 'How did Enter Shikari get their name?'
A correct answer read something along the lines of 'Shikari is the name of a boat' that singer Rou Reynolds uncle owned. But there is a bit more to it than that. Here is Rou answering himself:
Shikari means “The Hunter” in many Indian languages. My uncle was a fisherman and back when I was a kid I used to go out onto the high seas with him and just thought it was an awesome word. When we made the band, it just kind of fitted into what we had to do. We knew to make changes in this world you have to get out there and hunt yourself. It just seemed apt for how we were working as a band (the whole DIY style) as well as our political outlook.
Rou answers a few more questions including what his guilty pleasure is (Lady GaGa) and what's the deal with him being banned from Walmart in the US. Read it here.
