Pretty sure I saw a subliminal Che Guevara flash at me in the new Green Day video for 'East Jesus Nowhere.' Not sure what to think about that. Don't really want to go out and start a revolución. Might just be because my life "doesn't suck."
Anyways, enough of this - Green Day has released a new video - have a looksy.
Green Day are the cover boys this week on their hometown weekly paper, The Guardian. The story focuses on a musical the East Bay mods are producing based on their last album American Idiot. Among the most interesting items: Billie Joe Armstrong explaining how he learned to sing by crooning elderly hospital patients with the soundtracks from Oliver, Annie Get Your Gun, and other classical musicals:
"That's how I learned how to sing. There's a real old-school craft to it. That's kind of a corny way of doing things, but when you see something like Spring Awakening, it's ... it's real life, and it's something that everybody relates to, and it's inspiring and emotional. American Idiot was really tailor-made for something like this to happen to it, y'know."
Green Day is closing out their 2009 summer tour on the West Coast with covers of Black Sabbath, Randy Rhoads, Van Halen (covering The Kinks), and Zep. Not full covers - more like a riff montage. Here they are in San Jose. Check it out.
"I swear to God, I think we might come in last place. Or maybe second to last."
- Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill on his bands shot at winning the 'Best Rock Video' award at the VMAs. KOL is up against Coldplay, Green Day, Paramore and Fall Out Boy. For the record F.O.B. says they think K.O.L. will W.I.N.
The State of California is attacking (wants to shut down) underage music venues in San Francisco for not selling enough food. Yes, it is true. Slims, The Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill, and so many more are under fire from the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control. The state is forcing these clubs to make at least 50% of their revenues from food.
Who-TF wants to eat at a concert???
I'm sure club food is great to.
Read about it here.... and be not happy! Your town could be next!
Sunday night at midnight Green Day will go live with their video for '21 Guns'. The video was directed by Marc Webb, who recently just shot the MTV chart topping video 'Gives You Hell' by The All-American Rejects.' The clip above is a preview.
