Here is the trailer for DJ AM's new show Gone Too Far. After consideration MTV has decided to run the show and have editied it accordingly.
According to the synopsis: Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein spent his entire adult life fighting the power of addiction. With great respect for Adam's mission and the family, friends and fans who loved him, MTV brings you Gone Too Far.
Hosted by DJ AM, Gone Too Far is an intense and eye-opening series, which reveals the devastating effects of drug addiction while offering hope to those willing to accept an opportunity to change their lives.
We all knew him as the guy behind the turntables at the parties we attended. The guy that made us dance and laugh and have a blast. The guy with the Apple Macbook dressed in AC/DC lettering that became a synonymous symbol for 'good time'. Here is the DJ/AM as his friends and family knew him. It's the memorial video presented at the service held for him at The Hollywood Palladium. Only guy I've ever seen who owns 600 pairs of Nikes and a David Lee Roth shirt.
Nearly one month to the day before his death DJ AM sat down with MTV and provided his feelings towards relapsing into crack cocaine use: "honestly... it's terrifying."
On August 25th DJ AM updated his Twitter for the last time. "New York, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems." It's lyrics from Tha Dogg Pound. Snoop and Kurupt. West COHst.
DJ AM was found dead in his NYC apartment today near a crack pipe and pills, according to TMZ. If it's not tragic enough that a great person and performer dies well before his time, this time it seems like it just shouldn't have happened. AM was 11 years sober and has been shooting a show called 'Gone Too Far,' where he guides and mentors drugs addicts.
I found out about Adam's death while at a music festival. Silversun Pickups were in front of me tearing through Panic Switch. Just happened to check my Twitter at that moment and as I told the people around me - not a soul I knew - everyone had the same reaction: 'WTF.'
Growing up you hear about Jim Morrison, Hendrix, Janis, Bon Scott, all the musicians of generations past dying in their prime. AM was one of our musicians. So easily it seems they can disappear.
TRV$DJAM are giving out their brand spanking new Fix Your Face Vol. 2 Coachella 2009 mixtape absolutely free. And they are doing it with a prety interesting marketing tactic. There's no such thing as a free drink, so here's what you have to do for this one:
Looks like there's a new TRV$DJAM mixtape debuting over the weekend on KROQ. Travis and KROQ just had a twitter conversation about it. I just realized Twitter is made for Travis. Only 140 characters are allowed, but he doesn't use any vowels. I'm estimating he can fit at least eight more words then the rest of us. What a FCKR.
They got two turntables and a microphone drum kit... and now TRV$ DJ-AM just released a set of new shirts! And a 55 second preview of the new mixtape, right here:
You know you're buying the shirt, and rocking out to your mixtape preview. That's a Saturday night right there.
The line-up for NorCal's most ripping alternative music festival, BFD 2009, has finally been announced! At first glance it looks pretty promising. Spanning the genres of alternative, reggae, punk, indie and electronic, I think this could turn out to be a very wonderful day. The day breaks down like this:
Headliners: The Offspring, 311, Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Festival Stage: Taking Back Sunday, Alkaline Trio, Rebelution, Metric, Mute Math, Glasvegas, Anberlin, Airborne Toxic Event, Cage the Elephant, Dead Confederate, Audrye Sessions
Subsonic Tent: Crystal Castles, DJ AM, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Villains, Steve Aoki, Zion I, Mike Relm, Paparazzi, Limosines, Designer Drugs, DJ Omar, DJ Miles
Soundcheck Local Band Stage: MC Lars, Music for Animals, Wallpaper, Odawas, Dizzy Balloon, The Catholic Comb, Ambience, olid State Logic, Fighting the Villain
FINALLY seeing The Offsping will be cool. Reminds me of being up to no good in 8th grade. And Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Metric, Glasvegas, Limosines and Airborne Toxic Event are where it's at.
