Wow am I tired. You know why? Because I just rocked my face off at The Darkness concert all last night.
I’m not completely sure, but I think I just went to the best rock show of my life.
The Darkness headlined a show that included Foxy Shazam at the Fillmore in San Francisco. If you have a checklist of things to do before you die make sure you include a show at the Fillmore. Loads of history, free posters, and they give out apples. Foxy Shazam put on a short and sweet set that ended in a sold out crowd cheering their brains out and chanting Foxy, Foxy, Foxy. Foxy’s singer Eric Nally is a really great showman. Tells jokes, dances around, great performer.
The minute The Darkness hit stage with the opening riff to Black Shuck every teenager, 20-something, and old rockers in the audience burst into cheering that lasted two hours. The Darkness played all their hits in rapid fire, and some new tracks. I really really like a new song called ‘She’s Just A Girl, Eddie.’ The entire crowd went nuts for that song, and that’s the first time I’ve seen that in concert. Usually no one likes brand new songs.
All in all this was one of the most fun rock shows I’ve ever seen. The Darkness are back in a big way. Can’t wait for the new album in late March.
