Summer Beach Concerts, ‘Oh Hollywood’ by Tim Armstrong, and Mr. GIF the blog LETS HAVE A BEACH PARTY
This morning I woke up, made a nice cup of coffee, opened my curtains and went – whoa it looks like summer is here. And you know what that means – so much fun stuff to to do and so little time. I like to spend many of my Friday nights at the beach concerts up and down the California coast. After years of careful consideration I’ve narrowed my beach concerts down to three venues. The Del Mar fairgrounds, Santa Monica’s concerts on the pier, and the epic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk concerts on the bandstand. Have you ever wanted to feel like you’re living in Lost Boy’s the movie? Go to the summer concerts at the Boardwalk. Watch the show from the sand, ride the Giant Dipper, buy a carmel apple, or a gigantic Fosters beer. The boardwalk just released the summer lineup and it kicks off with Warrant. Cherry Pie baby.
Tim Armstrong of Rancid fame is making a musical web show called Rock n Roll Theater. The show stars his friends like Davey Havok, Lars Frederiksen, and others. Tim just released a new single from the show. It’s somewhat of an ode to tinseltown titled ‘Oh Hollywood.’ Check it out on Punknews.org.
And finally, when I’m bored I often stare at GIFs almost lose my mind. I’ve recently found a pretty cool GIF blog called Mr. GIF. The guy has some pretty good style, and I have no idea how he creates have of these suckers. I highly recommend you go check out if you have some spare time.
Ok that is all for me I’m definitely maybe outta here. Have a nice rest of your day. Later.

Harmony Korine Directs Vanessa Hudgens In Spring Breakers Also, Brain Freeze Explained & Russell Brand Goes To Gov't
Harmony Korine promises to “blow some people’s minds” in with his new film Spring Breakers. Korine, who is known for his independent films such as Kids and Gummo, will be directing Vanessa Hudgens and Selena Gomez in a fairly mainstream movie. I really can’t wait to see this one.
I grew up in Northern California where the ocean gets pretty darn cold in the winter. Anyone who’s surfed in water of that temperature knows that ice cream headaches aren’t very fun. I’ve always been pretty sure they kill brain cells. I’ve felt dumber all day after surfing in the morning. I swear. Well, some scientist from Harvard think they have figured out why ice cream headaches happen.
And finally today, if you didn’t already think governments around the world don’t do anything but waste time, here’s the British Parliament listening to Russell Brand quote Tupac on a drug panel

One Nine Nine Four Documentary Is Online Also, New York City MetroCard Redux, and Scary '80s Marijuana PSAs
It’s finally here. The long awaited, years in the making, documentary called One Nine Nine Four about punk rock from the nineties is online. The documentary is narrated by Tony Hawk. It covers everything from the emergence of Gilman Street in the Bay Area – with bands like Operation Ivy, Green Day, and NOFX – to the Southern California scene with Bad Religion, Pennywise, Blink-182, and more. Exclusive interviews with Fat Mike, Billy Joe, Tom Delonge, Greg Graffin, and Tim Armstrong – they’re all there. The film is on YouTube right now. I’d go search around YouTube and try to find it while you can. Who knows how long it will be up.
If you’ve ever cruised around the New York City subway system you know it’s like one giant, functional work of dirty art. But have you ever really looked at the Metro Cards? They’re kind of generic, right? Well one N-Y-C artist has taken it upon herself the redesign the card. In fact, she made 20 different cards based on different districts of the city. And many of the cards are designed with real food – like the Meatpacking district. That’s burger right there. Or how about Little Italy. Yum.
And finally, now there are some pretty scary things that come out of New Jersey. Like the 108 toxic waste dumps, the most of any state. And did you know it’s the car theft capital of the world? The entire world! But I think I have found the scariest thing ever to come from New Jersey. This creepy Psychedelic anti-marijuana PSA.
Whoa. Stay away from the pot.
Ok that’s all for me. Have a nice rest of the day. Later.

Skifcha The Dubstep Cat Also, A DJ Bike and RNR Documentary
On today’s Daily Detour w/ Eddie DaRoza:
One thing I’ve never quite got about the internet is how freaking popular cat videos are. People love those little guys! Befuddels my mind. Or at least it did until now. Have you heard of Skifcha the cat? What a little party animal. He loves dub step apparently. Oh yeah and that video goes for five hours. ,
Looking for a way to seriously annoy your friends and have a blast at the same time? Why not get the Turntable Rider? It’s a kit that turns your bicycle into a portable DJ booth. Hitting the brakes, riding, bouncing, grinding, peddling, all activate different sounds. You can write songs while riding. Commuting to work has never been so fun, and you’re boss will know when you’re getting to work when your a block away.
And finally, if you have some time to kill I recommend you head on over to YouTube and check out The History of Heavy Metal. A user ‘MetalRewind’ has posted the 1980s MTV documentary that features exclusive interviews with Nikki Sixx, Eddie Van Halen, Ozzy Osbourne, and many more. Every rock fan will learn a thing or two, or at least get to kick back and see what Ozzy was like when he could still speak English.
Well ok that’s all I got. Time to hit the road. Have a nice rest of your day. Later.
